Do you know how much equity you have?

Hi there, This week I want to focus on something that builds quietly in the background for most homeowners: your equity. Here's why it matters.

Home Equity

What your home's value means for your finances

As a homeowner, you build equity every time you make a mortgage payment—and as your home's value changes, that equity grows too. The more equity you have, the more options open up: you might refinance to a better rate, tap that equity for a renovation or other goal, or simply have a stronger financial cushion. The tricky part is knowing what your home is actually worth and how much equity you're sitting on. If you haven't thought about this in a while, it might be worth a conversation. I can help you understand your equity position and whether it makes sense to make a move—whether that's refinancing, borrowing against it, or just knowing where you stand. Reach out, and let's talk through what your home's value means for you.

Send me a message if you'd like to discuss your home equity and what options might be available.

Tip of the Week

Schedule a plumber to inspect older homes for slow leaks — water damage is expensive and often hidden until it's serious.

Tips for Homeowners

Jumbo Loans: What They Are and How They Work

1.

A jumbo loan exceeds the conforming loan limit set by the FHFA — $766,550 in most areas for 2024, higher in designated high-cost markets. These loans can't be sold to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac.

2.

Jumbo loans typically require stronger credit (often 700+), larger down payments (10–20%), and more cash reserves. Underwriting is more thorough and can take longer.

3.

Rates on jumbo loans are sometimes comparable to or even lower than conforming rates, depending on market conditions. Don't assume a jumbo loan means a worse deal — shop lenders.
