Does it make sense to refinance right now?

Hi, I'm sharing a topic this week that comes up a lot: refinancing. Whether it's worth doing depends entirely on your personal situation.

Refinancing Strategy

When refinancing makes sense for you

Refinancing isn't always the right move, but it can be powerful when the numbers align. Most borrowers think about it when rates drop, but the real question is whether your monthly savings—or other benefits like switching to a shorter loan term—outweigh the costs to refinance. Sometimes it makes sense; sometimes you're better off staying put. The only way to know for sure is to look at your specific situation: your current rate, the new rate environment, how long you plan to stay in your home, and what you're trying to accomplish. If you've been wondering whether now is the time, I'd like to walk through the numbers with you and help you see what actually pencils out.

Reach out and we can run the numbers on your loan—no pressure, just clarity.

Tip of the Week

Schedule a plumber to inspect older homes for slow leaks — water damage is expensive and often hidden until it's serious.

Tips for Homeowners

Jumbo Loans: What They Are and How They Work

1.

A jumbo loan exceeds the conforming loan limit set by the FHFA — $766,550 in most areas for 2024, higher in designated high-cost markets. These loans can't be sold to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac.

2.

Jumbo loans typically require stronger credit (often 700+), larger down payments (10–20%), and more cash reserves. Underwriting is more thorough and can take longer.

3.

Rates on jumbo loans are sometimes comparable to or even lower than conforming rates, depending on market conditions. Don't assume a jumbo loan means a worse deal — shop lenders.
